2:15 p.m.: The World Organization for Animal Health has removed France from its list of bird-flu afflicted countries, nearly four months after the deadly H5N1 virus hit a commercial poultry farm in the southeast of the country, the agriculture ministry said. The Paris-based animal-health organization considers afflicted countries free of avian influenza after three consecutive months without a new outbreak. At the height of France's bird-flu crisis, some 45 nations issued full or partial bans on poultry imports from France, Europe's largest poultry producer.

8:30 a.m.: A case of cat infection by the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu has been detected in Indonesia, a WHO medical officer in Jakarta said, Kyodo News reported.
